When a robotic rover sent from Earth starts drilling for signs of life on Mars, the peaceful life of the native community of tiny rock-beasts is shattered. One young rock-beast tries to keep her reckless little brother safe from harm, by locking them both inside their stone-age bunker and leaving the rest of the village to fend for themselves. But despite her best efforts, her brother is taken by the metal invader as a rock sample, meaning she must face her fears and journey across Mars in a race to save his life. She soon discovers that she can’t do it alone, for what threatens one, threatens them all. A stop-motion sci-fi adventure about colonialism, Red Rover turns the idea of ‘killer robots from outer space’ on its head, questioning the ethics of uncontrolled and invasive tech-power.
